As the only sports bars in Orange Walk, La Hacienda offers lunch and dinner. Big screen TVs line the walls, and you can choose from a variety of sports channels.
Steaks, burgers, buffalo wings and chicken fingers are popular selections. The jerk fish and Mayan fish are quite spicy and flavorful. Rice and beans and ceviche are are available daily.
La Hacianda becomes quite a hot spot for World Cup football, the NBA and other regional sporting events. Bar tender J.R. Reyes makes good conversation, and is one of the most experienced bar tenders I know in Orange Walk.
Owner Melin Vazquez is a cycling enthusiast and sponsor of Team Zamir. His team has won several major cycling races in Belize and Mexico.
La Hacianda is on the southern end of town and requires a 10 minute drive.
The food was super – table had a beautiful red tablecloth. However, we waited too long for the food to come – we were the only ones initially at this restaurant and waited at least 48 minutes. Perhaps Canadians are not used to waiting this long for their dinner to arrive.
We dined in the restaurant yesterday evening and were very pleased with the food. The time we waited for our meals to arrive, however, was not acceptable – it was much too long a wait.
My experience at La Hacienda has been nothing but pleasant. I can say with all certainty that this is my favorite place to eat in Orange Walk. I visited 5 times last year and ate most of my meals there. The service is super-your cold drink is about to drip a cold sweat on the table and your attentive waiter is already wiping it dry. The place is always clean and the temperature always right! Perfect place for tourist who are not used to the humidity of Belize. My meals were served about 15 minsuted from ordering. I love this place and the owners are always smiling.
