  • “Deserving of all the praise”

    gsa_and_av: San Diego, CA Jan 23, 2010

Our two nights at Hotel De La Fuente were reserved via email. We visited Orange Walk Town primarily to see Lamanai, but also had some time to explore OWT on foot. The hotel is located close to the bus station, town center, banks/ATM's, and various eateries/food vendors. The hotel staff/owners were among the nicest we encountered in Belize, and they helped us with everything from walking directions to arranging laundry service. We opted for the Lamanai river cruise arranged by the hotel, and were very satisfied. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with amenities including free wi-fi and cable TV. We even got to watch football on NFL network one of our nights!! If you are planning a trip to OWT, you can't go wrong with Hotel De La Fuente.

    “Terrific hotel!”

SusieAndFranklin: Ithaca, New York Jun 6, 2010

We stayed at Hotel de la Fuente for 4 days on our trip to Belize. The owners, Orlando and Cyndi, as well as others on the staff (especially Yvan) could not have been more helpful. The rooms were comfortable, clean and air-conditioned. The hotel itself and the rooms were beautiful! Orlando mentioned the possibility of a pool in the future. That would be even better! Also, fast and free internet access.

Our stay was broken up into two days each with time for travel to other places in between. Coming back to this hotel felt like going home.

  • “Best Hotel in Orange Walk”

    Jules-and-Lloyd: Littlehampton, United Kingdom January 3, 2008

Definitely one of the best hotels in Orange Walk. Rooms are clean - although a little basic - but the air con works, sheets were clean and the shower was hot! We had a suite with kitchen facilities - everything you needed was there for you. Hotel is well located. Staff were very friendly and helpful - and also provided really good advice for eating locally. They helped organise trips in the area - all well-priced and well organised.

“Best Place to Stay in Orange Walk”

    Rikky22: Vancouver Island Jun 27, 2007

After riding the old school busses throughout Belize, Hotel de la Fuente was the perfect place for us to call home for our next six days in Orange Walk. We were a group of 9 students and 2 professors implementing a research appraisal for the friendly town. Since we were all backpackers, we were expecting budget accommodation (basics). We were all pleasently suprised, the owners greeted us right away and took us up the stairs to the beautiful hotel rooms. It was lovely to finally have air conditioning, which you will greatly appreciate in this hot, sweaty country:), we had two fans, beds were cleaned daily (although you did have the environmentally friendly option to have your sheets cleaned only when you requested) and hot and cold water:) Another bonus was also the complimentry bottled water that was supplied each morning. But above all, I would have to say that the owners Orlando and Cindy were the most hospitable people that we met while we were in Belize. On our last night there, the kind owners invited us over for a great bbq, and entertained us all night! We had a great time. I will never forget these people and I can not reccommend them enough! Enjoy

  • “Fantastic Hotel, Excellent Service!!”

    MinnesotaMary: Minnesota Jan 16, 2007

We returned yesterday from Belize and could barely wait to write this review for Hotel de la Fuente. We had a fantastic stay at this hotel, and actually stayed there two separate times during our trip. The customer service and friendliness of ALL of the staff was a real treat and makes this hotel stand out! On top of that, the rooms were very clean with really pretty tile in the bathrooms; there was a coffee maker in the room, wireless internet, 24 hour security, and a nice little restaurant nearby. They set up an awesome tour of the Lamanai ruins which we traveled to by boat! The price of our stay was more then reasonable. We were really cared by the owners and staff, and now we've got friends in Belize! If you want the red carpet treatment, stay at the Hotel de la Fuente!!

    “An Excellent Choice”

SamEdmonton: Edmonton, Alberta Feb 13, 2007

The service of the Hotel is great. My wife, 10 month old son, and I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in January, 2007. I emailed them for information prior to our arrival and received prompt response with the full price list of the different room with their amenities. You got a variety of choices from regular room to one with kitchenette to full kitchen. They have A/C, cable TV, DSL and wireless access, and coffee maker in each room. Price ranges from $27.5-$70 US depends on the room. They can also arrange for a tour of Lamani with Jungle Tours just down the street from the Hotel. As we arrived the staff was very friendly and helpful with information about the town, local attractions, and restaurants. The rooms were spotless and with lovely decor. It is walking distance to the different restaurants and the town centre. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone and definitely will stay their again in our next stay, when our son is old enough to remember the vacation :)

  • “Hotel de la Fuente was one of the best parts of the trip”

    DukeTraveler53: Durham, NC August 22, 2007.

Hotel de la Fuente is a friendly, clean, comfortable, classy, and beautiful hotel! It provided the perfect location to relax and plan during two weekends of a 3-week service project in the Orange Walk area. Close access to the New River, Lamani, and the interesting Orange Walk town made our time there seem like a vacation, while the wireless internet connection allowed us to carry-out the necessary planning and contact home.

Orlando and Cindy were the most gracious of hosts, sharing many lenghty conversations with us in the lobby through which we discovered the best ways to experience Orange Walk and Belize as a whole. The remainder of the staff was equally helpful, even volunteering to watch our belongings one evening when we were unexpectedly in Orange Walk with nowhere to rest. Of course we knew we could turn to our friends at Hotel de la Fuente. The everpresent security makes stayers feel safe throughout their time at HDLF.

By the end of our stay, Orlando had even invited a tennis player from our group to play with his club, invited us to his home, treated us to a meal, showed us where to purchase the best hammocks, and explained the politics of Belize to us! Even a tenth of this hospitality would have made for an excellent stay! Hotel de la Fuente is an incredible hotel at an incredible price! Please eat some of the complimentary sweet breads, bananas, and mangoes for me when you stay at Hotel de la Fuente.

  • “More than just a hotel!”

    Belikin: Chicago Nov 15, 2006

I have been traveling to Belize for years, and in all my years of travel I have never found a cleaner, nicer, or more accomodating hotel than the Hotel de la Fuente. The rooms are wonderful and the staff makes you feel like you are part of family. Not only is there a coffee pot (with bottled water) in each room for those early mornings, but the lobby even has pasties and more coffee for its guest. The service at this hotel is unparalled from everything else I have seen in Belize. You can also get a great deal on trips to the nearby Mayan Ruins of Lamanai.

Oh yeah, with all the extra features of this hotel, I was blown away by the fact that the rooms are competivley priced, and often cheaper than other hotels that don't offer half as much per night.

Stay here, and you won't regret it!

Orlando de la Fuente's place is a step up from the other hotels in Orange Walk Town, and the remarkably low room rates, starting at BZ$50 with air-conditioning (plus 9% tax), put it among the best values in northern Belize. It won the 2006 Small Hotel of the Year award from the Belize Tourism Industry Association. All rooms have air-conditioning, complimentary wireless Internet, coffeemakers, and comfortable new beds. Two suites (BZ$120-BZ$140, plus tax) have separate bedrooms and kitchenettes. The hotel arranges trips to Lamanai for BZ$80 per person, including lunch, admission, and pickup and drop-off at the hotel. Pros: Great value, attractive and modern rooms, central location. Cons: Not much atmosphere, no pool.
